Terms of Service

1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Own the Greeks LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Own the Greeks", "we", "us"), about your use of the website and its training (the "site"). By creating an account, or by using the site, you accept these terms.
The Risk and Education Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy are part of these terms. Please read them; they explain what the site is, what it is not, and how we handle your information.
Section 15 asks you to resolve disputes through individual arbitration rather than in court or in a class action, and explains how to opt out within 30 days.
2. Who can use the site
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to create an account or buy a membership.
You may use the site only where doing so is lawful. You may not use it if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region under comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you appear on a U.S. government list of restricted persons. Payments from those places are blocked.
3. Your account and handle
An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, do not share your account, and tell us through the contact form if you think someone else has used it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
The site gives you a display handle, which may appear on leaderboards. Any handle you choose or change must not be offensive, impersonate someone, or include contact details or promotion. We may change or remove a handle that breaks this rule.
4. Free and Pro plans
The site has a free plan and a paid Pro membership, billed monthly or annually. The Membership section of our home page shows what each plan includes and the current prices.
We keep improving the site, so what each plan includes can change. We will not remove a major part of Pro during a period you have already paid for without offering you a fair remedy, such as a partial refund.
5. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Pro is sold by Link, Stripe's payment service, through Stripe Managed Payments. Link is the seller of record: it takes your payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, sends your receipts, and handles chargebacks. Your card statement shows the charge as "LINK.COM* OWN THE GREE". The checkout page shows Link's terms, which govern the payment itself. These terms govern your use of the site, and a payment or refund decision by Link does not change them. Prices are shown before tax; any tax is added at checkout.
- Renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price you signed up at, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in your account settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and then your account moves to the free plan. Your rating and history stay.
- Price guarantee. Your price never goes up while your Pro membership stays active. If we raise the price of Pro, the new price applies only to memberships that start after the change. Yours keeps renewing at the price you signed up at, including a founding price, for as long as it continues without a break. The guarantee ends when your membership ends: when you cancel, when a payment is refunded, or when a renewal payment still fails after the payment service has retried it. If you come back later, or switch between monthly and annual, you pay that plan's price at the time. Prices are in U.S. dollars; if you pay in another currency, the amount in that currency can change with the exchange rate.
6. Refunds
30-day money-back guarantee. If Pro is not right for you, ask within 30 days of your first Pro payment and we will refund it in full, whether you chose monthly or annual. The guarantee applies once per person, to the first Pro payment only, not to renewals or later memberships, including memberships under a new account. If the same person has already received a refund under this guarantee, for example where the same card or email address was used, we may decline the request.
To ask for a refund, email [email protected] or use the contact form, from the email address on your account. We usually reply within two business days. An approved refund is issued through Link to the card you paid with; banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it. You can also ask Link directly, through the link in your receipt; Link then checks with us before it decides, and may decide on its own if we have not answered within 48 hours.
When a payment is refunded in full, Pro ends right away and your account moves to the free plan. Your rating and history stay.
7. Using the site fairly
The site works because every member's rating is earned. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools to answer questions, or to copy or download the site's content;
- copy, publish or share the questions, explanations or explainers outside the site, beyond short quotes for discussion;
- open several accounts, or let someone else answer for you, to raise a rating, a rank or a leaderboard place;
- try to get around the plan limits, payment or security, or reverse-engineer the question engine;
- use the site to harass anyone, or to send spam or promotion through the contact form.
If you break these rules, we may reset ratings, remove leaderboard entries or certificates, or suspend or close the account, as section 12 describes.
8. Content and ownership
The site, its questions, explainers, illustrations, software and the Own the Greeks name and logo belong to us. While your account is in good standing, we give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use the site for your own learning. That permission ends if your account ends.
If you send us a problem report, a suggestion or other feedback, we may use it to improve the site, without owing you anything for it. Reports you send through the site may be stored with your account, as the Privacy Policy explains.
9. Ratings, leaderboard and certificates
Ratings, ranks, leaderboard places and certificates reflect your answers on the site, as the Disclaimer explains; they are not qualifications. To keep them fair, we may recalculate or adjust ratings, for example after correcting a question, and we may remove a leaderboard entry or withdraw a certificate that was earned in breach of section 7.
You may share your certificate. When you do, please share it as it is issued, including its note that it is not a license or professional qualification.
10. Education only
The site is general education. It is not investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and we are not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer. All examples use made-up stocks and hypothetical figures, and options involve substantial risk. The Risk and Education Disclaimer sets this out in full, and you agree that you have read it and that your trading decisions are your own.
11. Availability and changes to the site
We aim to keep the site available and working well, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and we may add, change or remove features, questions and explainers as the site develops.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. Deleting it does not by itself refund any payment; section 6 covers refunds. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and what we must keep.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to respond. If we close a paid account without good reason, we will refund the unused part of your current period.
13. No warranties and limits on liability
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including any implied promise that the site is fit for a particular purpose or free of errors.
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any trading or investment losses, or for lost profits or data, or for indirect or consequential losses, arising from your use of the site;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 U.S. dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
14. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or misused the site, for example by presenting a certificate as a qualification or sharing the site's content, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. Disputes
Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with us, send us a written description through the contact form. We will try to resolve it informally within 30 days, and we ask you to do the same before starting any formal claim.
Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and we agree to settle any dispute about the site or these terms by binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration can take place by video or in writing, or in person in the county where you live. For claims under 10,000 U.S. dollars, we will pay the arbitration filing and administration fees beyond what you would pay to file in court.
Exceptions. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may go to court to stop misuse of intellectual property.
No class actions. Disputes are resolved individually. Neither of us may bring or join a claim as part of a class, collective or representative action, and an arbitrator may not combine claims of different people. If 25 or more similar claims are brought against us within 180 days by people represented by the same lawyers or organization, they are handled in stages under the American Arbitration Association's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules: up to 10 claims proceed first as test cases, the others wait, and no fees are due on a waiting claim until it proceeds. The time limits for bringing a waiting claim are paused while it waits.
Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing [email protected] from the email address of your account, with the subject "Arbitration opt-out". We record your opt-out and confirm it by email; keep that confirmation. If you opt out, the rest of these terms still apply, and disputes go to the courts named below.
Governing law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, including the Federal Arbitration Act. Any dispute not sent to arbitration goes to the state or federal courts in Florida.
If you live in the EU, the UK or elsewhere with mandatory consumer rules. Nothing in this section takes away consumer protections that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
16. Changes, contact and general terms
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. For a significant change we will tell you by email or on the site at least 30 days before it takes effect; the date at the top always shows the current version. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.
Contact. You can reach us at [email protected] or through the contact form on the site.
General. These terms, with the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them if the site changes ownership, and your rights under them stay the same.
